2017 is upon us!
Kupka’s Piano has a busy year ahead. We’re still finalising all the details, but we have some dates for you to write down in your diaries… Plus keep an eye out for our debut studio recording, we’re anticipating a release around mid-year!
Judith Wright Centre series
As in previous years, we’re thrilled to be presenting a multi-concert series at Brisbane’s premiere contemporary art venue – the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Fortitude Valley. In 2017 we will be playing three programs at the Judy, each working with some wonderful guest artists and featuring exciting new repertoire.
Concert 1: May 11
We’re very excited to welcome the spectacular Jessica Aszodi (soprano) to join us for a program of Beat Furrer, Patricia Alessandrini, and Anton Webern.
Concert 2: July 15
In a very special production, we’ll be performing Morton Feldman’s unique and enchanting setting of Samuel Beckett’s Words and Music.
Concert 3: December 15
For our final performance of 2017 we’ll be welcoming Brisbane native Deepa Goonetillike (horn) back from Europe for the holidays with a big program of contemporary classics: Ligeti’s horn trio will keep you on the edge of your seat, and Ferneyhough’s Flurries will sweep you away!
In addition to the Judith Wright series, we’ll be travelling around a bit this year for a number of appearances in regional centres and festivals. There’s a couple more to be announced very shortly!
June 28: USQ, Toowoomba
Kupka’s will head up the range to play some fun new music in the University of Southern Queensland’s Twilight Series.
November 3: RPAC, Cleveland
We’ll be playing at the Redlands Performing Arts Centre (RPAC) in November, lugging all of Angus’ percussion gear down for a program of Enno Poppe, Diana Soh, Lois Vierk, and a new work by Redlands local Liam Flenady.
